For Educators and Parents

Welcome to our new website! We’re in the process of rolling out this site and encourage you to look around and, for the first time, buy books directly from us. This is an exciting step for us. We encourage all readers to buy from their local bookstores, but should that ever prove impractical, you can always find our books here. We look forward to serving you and introducing you to our new, award-winning titles. If you haven’t done so already, please consider signing up for our newsletter (see below) and finding us on Facebook, so you can keep up with all that we’re up to!

Tilbury House is an independent publishing company founded forty years ago. We publish books for all ages, including E.B. White’s essays (One Man’s Meat and E.B. White on Dogs), a how-to guide for aspiring poets that has sold more than 90,000 copies (In the Palm of Your Hand), many books of regional interest in Maine and New England, and award-winning children’s picture books (Say Something, The Secret Pool, Eye of the Whale, among many others) with storylines that explore issues of cultural diversity, social justice, science, nature, and the environment. In response to the overwhelming praise our children’s books have received from teachers, we’ve developed teacher’s guides for some of our titles and now offer the Tilbury Learning Center (TLC) section on this website, featuring classroom activities, literature links, and further resources for using our books in the classroom, with homeschoolers, or with your own kids.
