Who Belongs Here?

Tilbury House publishes award-winning children’s books that help young people build character, appreciate cultural diversity, and explore the natural world. For parents and educators seeking to share and discuss the complexities of the world, our books offer opportunities through the stories of real-to-life children in contemporary settings. For instance, books such as Our Friendship Rules and Say Something invite conversation about bullying and teasing; Playing War offers a gentle, but realistic way to discuss the impact of war.
We are publishing three wonderful new children’s books this year. Based on fact, Remember Me: Tomah Joseph’s Gift to Franklin Roosevelt is the story of a Passamaquoddy elder and former chief who befriended the boy who would become an American president. Always My Brother tells how a young girl and her parents recover after the death of her brother. It’s a story that will help with the loss of a friend or family member. Bear-ly There brings us more of Rebekah Raye’s wonderful animal paintings in her tale about a bear who shows up in the back yard, when it’s best for everyone (including the bear) if the bear stays in the woods.
Together with educators who are specialists in their fields, Tilbury House has developed imaginative, user-friendly teacher's guides for many of our books and some stand-alone teacher’s guides. We also offer "Teachers Take Note" activity and discussion guides on each of our children's book pages on our website. These cyber guides include literature links and further resources for using our books in classrooms or in homeschool settings. For suggestions on using our books for focused reading, please see the suggestions below.
Our books are approved for the California Instructional Materials Fund and the New York State Textbook List, and most are Accelerated Reader™ and Scholastic Reading Counts! books.
